TERATHANE® PTMEG serves as the premium soft segment in highly demanding applications. Below 650 molecular weight, it is a liquid at room temperature. Above 1000, it is a low-melting waxy white solid. The product reacts with isocyanates or organic acids to form a variety of elastomers such as polyurethanes, copolyesters and polyamides.
Whether you call it polyether glycol, PTMO or PTMG, TERATHANE® PTMEG is a family of linear diols with hydroxyl groups that are separated by repeating tetramethylene ether groups. For example, in TERATHANE® 1000 polyether glycol there is an average of 14 repeating groups whilst TERATHANE® 2000 consists of about 27.
This versatile ingredient can be used to help create end products ranging from industrial tires and belts to cable jacketing, protective coatings, hoses, medical tubing, adhesives and sealants.
